Multifactor Analysis of Carer Satisfaction in Geriatric Hospitals

Background: There were not enough researches about patients and carers in geriatric hospital, although a lot of geriatric hospitals were established lately. The purposes of this study were to investigate the factors to select a geriatric hospital as long term care unit and to investigate the carer satisfaction of geriatric hospitals.
Methods: Total 131 carers of patient who had been in a geriatric hospital for more than 1 month were surveyed. Our questionnaires were composed of general characteristics of patients, the level of activities of daily living, the factors on choosing a geriatric hospital and carer satisfaction of a geriatric hospital. We analyzed the characteristics of factors that influenced carer satisfaction of a geriatric hospital.
Results: Total carer satisfaction was significantly correlated with a person tending the sick, functional improvement equipments in the factors to select a geriatric hospital and a favorable process of medical program, convenient facilities in the factors of carer satisfaction (P£¼0.05). Total carer satisfaction was also significantly correlated with the expectation to be restore to health (P£¼0.05).
Conclusion: The carer satisfaction of a geriatric hospital were related with the expectation to be restore to health, and the consideration of importance about a person tending the sick, functional improvement equipments.
